The Orangery
Our enchanting Orangery provides an intimate setting bathed in natural light, with stunning views across rolling countryside. The elegant glass architecture and sophisticated interiors create an exclusive atmosphere perfect for smaller gatherings. The Orangery can seat up to 40 guests.
The De Beauvoir Suite
Named after the family that owned Downham Hall from 1723 to 1821, the elegant De Beauvoir Suite combines classic English charm with contemporary comfort. Rich period features and tasteful decor provide an elegant backdrop for milestone celebrations, from anniversary dinners and birthday celebrations to corporate gatherings. The De Beauvoir Suite can accommodate up to 36 people seated.
The Marquee
For larger celebrations of up to 110 seated guests, our beautiful, heated luxury marquee offers a versatile canvas for your event. This spacious venue, adorned with draped ceilings with twinkling lights and sparkling chandeliers, features a fully stocked, licensed bar, comfortable seating area and dance floor.
The Marquee creates an enchanting atmosphere for larger celebrations, proms, reunions, large corporate events and weddings. Guests can also enjoy our manicured grounds overlooking the historic moat and rolling hills.
Exceptional Cuisine, Thoughtfully Crafted
Our 2 AA Rosette awarded North Wing Restaurant caters for all our events in-house, extending the same quality ingredients and culinary expertise to every dish.
Our talented chefs have created beautifully balanced seasonal menu’s using produce sourced from local Essex farms and suppliers, however, they’re always happy to design something bespoke. Whether you’re dreaming of a particular dish or have specific dietary requirements, our chefs will bring your vision to life.

When you book private dining at Downham Hall, you’ll be assigned a dedicated event coordinator who will oversee every element of your celebration. From initial planning through to the final farewell, they’ll ensure you and your guests are looked after, allowing you to relax and savour every moment.

On-Site Accommodation
We are proud to offer 5 individually styled award-winning en-suite bedrooms, each featuring a comfortable king or super-king size bed, perfect for any guests travelling from afar, or who wish for the ease of simply walking up the ornate staircase to bed at the end of the evening.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast in our Orangery overlooking the countryside the following morning or in our beautiful De Beauvoir suite.
