The Orangery
Capacity: Up to 40 guests
Our light and airy Orangery situated at the rear of the hall is the perfect setting for an intimate wedding, with draped ceilings, elegant chandelier and natural decor to complement the beautiful outdoor space. The Orangery overlooks the most beautiful panoramic views of both the gardens and rolling Essex countryside as far as the eye can see. This ceremony room is perfect for couples who want to say ‘I do’ surrounded by their closest family and friends in a space that feels both sophisticated and wonderfully intimate.
The De Beauvoir Suite
Capacity: Up to 87 guests
Named after the De Beauvoir Family, who owned the Hall from 1723 to 1821, the De Beauvoir Suite has been carefully renovated and today offers sophisticated, elegant ceremony space for up to 87 guests. This beautiful ceremony room features tasteful décor, a stunning chandelier that casts a gentle glow, and a tall bay window that frames you perfectly as you exchange vows.
Garden Ceremonies
Capacity: Up to 110 guests
For couples who dream of an outdoor ceremony, our grounds offer a truly tranquil setting. Exchange vows beneath open skies, surrounded by manicured lawns the historic moat, with views stretching across the Essex countryside.

Our grounds provide a secluded, sanctuary allowing you and your guests to to fully immerse yourselves in the moment, framed by the natural beauty of the estate.

We know the British weather likes to keep us on our toes. With Downham Hall being an exclusive use venue, we have the flexibility to bring your wedding ceremony indoors if the weather changes and our helpful team will take care of everything so that you don’t have to. On the rare occasion we need to move your ceremony inside, our experienced team will dress the elegant De Beauvoir Suite to match your outdoor ceremony vision.
St Margaret's Church
Capacity: Up to 100 guests
For those seeking a traditional church wedding, the picturesque St Margaret’s Church sits just steps from Downham Hall. This beautiful historic church offers a classic ceremony setting steeped in tradition, with comfortable seating for up to 100 guests and all the timeless charm of a quintessential English country church.
After your church ceremony, you and your guests can make the short journey back to Downham Hall for your exclusive wedding reception in our elegant Hall and surroundings.
Freedom to Explore
As an exclusive-use venue, when you book Downham Hall, every space becomes yours. Your guests are welcome to wander the gardens, enjoy drinks on our outdoor patio overlooking the countryside views, and use any of our indoor spaces.
